Default cosworth engine problem

recently i purchased another cosworth with a nice engine spec until recently

came home the other day and the car just dident sound the same on tickover
so i compression tesetd it and all the borese exept number 3 were on about 130 psi and number 3 was on 80 psi

my engine spec is low comp and is 7.4 , studded block with wrc headgasket ,ported and poished head with bd 10 cams

so i take the rocker cover off and have noticed some rocker caps are loose and the nuts have neally come all the way off ,and which has caused some studs too strip out off the head

so i carry on and take the head off as no real problem headgasket and stud reusable
i was expecting too see something wrong but everything looks ok
no valves look bent and no bore sacrapes and pistons look ok

any suggestions too what could be the problem

as i have been told the tappet could be stuck or drained off oil due too the rocker bolts being loose which whould cause loss off psi in bore 3

any help or info much appreciated

head being sent in too get studs sorted that have stripped and also check the valves over

A stuck tappet will NOT Lift the cam out as suggested, because the valve is weaker than the caps, this will bend/break first.
It is yet another cossie that has been abused by not being put together right.

if the cam caps were loose the the valves WONT be working correctly ie opening and shutting at the right times If at all, doubt they'd be able to of opened enough to make contact with the pistons either so DONT think you have bent any valves imo and the compression WOULD of been lower because of that!

one other thing that springs in mind do have the condition of the cams checked as have known a few to snap in 2 pieces due to caps being lose!

The fact that you had perfect compression ion three cylinders shows the valves were opening and closing.
Make sure you get three angle seats on valves, and being a cossie head guides and exhaust valves COULD be knackered too!!.

car is fixed and runs better than ever

it had pulled 7 studs out which hold the cam caps down ,so they was allicoiled

damaged 3 valves

so them was replaced and had all the valves decarboned and reseated

only cost me 100 too get done as i had spare valves

rebuilt it tonight and the car is spot on well chuffed

thx too you who helped with the input

F****in hell, that's not good.
Engineer has some answering to do IMO.
If you were nearer I would put it together for you FOC, but make sure all ok first, you should be able to trust engineers work, can't see how it could be down to you.
