Default st170 problem

Hi everyone

I have a problem with my just purchased focus. It is currently in the ford main dealers, who are unable to find any problem with it !!!!

The car broke down on the motorway whilst cruising at around 70. The car started to jerk about and when i put my foot on throttle nothing happened the car just came to a halt with no power. On stopping the car just ticked over like there was no problem.

On driving away again the problem reappeared half mile down the road. This time the rac were called who on inspecting the car found no obvious problems until under load ie revving the engine the exhaust appeared to have nothing coming out of it.

I have had a similar problem before with the cat being blocked , but the last time it made a lot of noise whilst braking down. There have been no noises or any giveaways to the problem

The ford main dealers who have the car say that they cannot find any problems on the diagnostics and in a test drive of twenty odd miles that have not been able to diagnose any faults.

Since owning the car this is the third period the car has had to go back and i am losing patience with it , let alone any trust i had in it.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be ?

Cheers

If the enigne was running and not a lot coming out of exhaust, it is the cat, or another blockage, very unlikely though, cats go in different ways, although feasibly could be blocked silencer, still most likely cat though.

I think its the cat as well , cannot think of anything else that could effectively block the exhaust.

Still the main dealers say they cannot find a blockage , maybe i was imagining the whole thing ,

Maybe i should try imagining the car being parked inside the showroom without the door being opened first

The car is under warranty , maybe they are hoping i will go away .

Just wreck the cat with some naughty fuel!!, then they will have to change it.
Might help to get it on someone else's MOT gas tester to see what the emission are doing ?

It could well be, they do rattle rather well when breaking up, jack the car up, or axle stands and have a listen whilst running, use a scredriver etc as a stethescope you'll soon hear it if it is.
