Hi chaps, wife has a focus 1.8 zetec black topandim wondering what wouldbe involved in swapping the engine for the 2.0 black top? is it just a case of ecu, lockset and engine/brakes or is it more complex than this?

 

Brakes wil be fine, as will lock set.
I would not bother with ecu change as this will coipe ok with just a 200cc increase, it will have enough adaptability built in for this, and keeps your coded key etc.

Providing things fit ?
Problems may be with exhaust(cylinder head spacing), throttle body and a few other things but nothing major.

ps don't quote me though as never done one, of these.

 

Straight swap engine wise, bare in mind that the 2 litre has a larger radiator and also the mtx75 gearbox. Exhausts (including manifold) are identical as are the intake manifolds and throttle bodies. I don't know about the fuel injectors though.

The brakes are the same size front wise the only difference was the 2 litre had rear disks too. The 1.8's did have rears as an option from what i remember. It's easy enough to convert the rears to disks with the 2 litre parts including the hand brake cables.
