Default cozzy/zetec question

right got a really good question for you zetec and cozzy engine boffins

1) so what is actualy the difference between them two engines apart from the turbo

2) why is is so hard to get a decent power or 1/4 mile time in a 2.0l zetec lol

3) and is it worth me getting cozzy management on my 2.0l zetec

thank you

1) have a read, the differences are quite obvious... different bore, stroke, compression ratio, ones normally aspirated ones forced induction, different port shapes, different port sizes, different valve sizes, different manifolds etc etc etc

2) 1/4 mile time isnt just down to the engine, its down to the car its bolted into, in your case its a fiesta which isnt renowned as being the best handling car, so your probably struggling with a poor chassis (assuming you have a mk3 fiesta) and poor suspension setup.

3) you cant have cossie management on your zetec as its not a turbo'd.

and which one of your questions do you class as really good ?

You cvan run cossie management on normally aspirated but pointless, it is not the best system anyway, I am changing over to a EMERALD 3d ECU.
You would be much better off with a aftermarket ecu, the reason the zetec may not seem so good is because it was designed around a whole different aim ie emmisions and as low as possible, whereas the cossie lump is only a rusty old pinto with a different head, basically but head work and turbo is what does the biz.
A NA engine of the same power will always be slower than a Turbo one due to torque differences, but can still be made very fast, but at a much greater cost, as cossie has most if not all the major components already needed.

EMERALD ecu can be set up with your own map, but will be supplied FOC with base map if you ask.
KARL the man who designed these ECU's, and works for emerald with DAVE WALKER knows his stuff.
These ecus also have a host of useful features including switch selectable different maps, map interpolation, and a load more.
They plug straight into all K SERIES engines(looms), rovers, lotus etc.
They can also use a multitude of different sensor inputs, and fire coilpacks direct, use either vaux or ford trigger patterns, so all sensors dirt cheap as well.

EGR is not too bad, PULSE AIR is a pain in the rear, but easier if you take them both off.
Just make sure you keep the EGR PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL SENSOR, as this may need to remain plugged in, it may default to LOS otherwise.

You should post some piccies up ?
I fixed a mondy today that had a running problem for two years, no codes, no dealer with a clue, one s/h TPS later perfect, was still well within range, so did not show any error, just not in range with the rest!!
Easy Ł20, don't know about the new technology, can be a pain sometimes.

The problem was just the car shuddered when idling, and used to occasionally cut out when started, but only when hot.
Emissions were perfect, drove perfect, ace on fuel despite being and auto does around 35/40mpg, averages 460/470 to a tank before fill up.
Piccies of the car + engine, just like piccies.
My dad is the same as you he prefers the carbs, and points etc, oh and starting handles, man in front with red flag!!
He has a V8(4litre) xr4i though!!, did not minde me putting the engine box electrics etc in one of those, even made me cut and shut a ROVER SD1 exhaust(ss) to fit his 4i, we are on SU carbs but going injection with emerald ecu soon.
