What oil to use
Hi guys i recently last Wednesday bought a Escort Cossie large turbo model. Done a quick check on it on Friday and the oil was low, topped it up to the 3.8 litre mark which is reccomended onlky to find yesterday it was back down at minumim again yesterday. The mechanic ewho done my work put in 5 w 30 as that is what it supposedly reccomended to put in, Where as the tuning company i was with yesterday said it should either take 10w40 fully snthetic or 10w50.
Can someone shed some light on this please for me. Also does anyone have any suggestions on how it is burning oil so quickly.

Any turbo car will use oil, on the escos it goes past the turbo seals, as there is not a seal as such in there.
5/30 way too thin, I use 15/50 in my sapph but I know others use a 10/40 etc, or even 10/60.

What grade oil to use all deppends on what spec your engine is. If it's more of less standard then as tabetha 10/40-15/50 would be fine. If you want give the oilman a pm he will tell you exactly what grade to use

yeah i'd pm the oilman morty and see what he says.
The car in question is basically stage 2 / 3 and these engines used 1 litre of oil every one thousand miles even when brand spanking new.
My saph does the exact same mort but i was using 10 / 40 for a while and then advised it is too thin.
My advice is to keep an eye on the oil pressure and always check your oil before going for a stage
