Hydraulic Clutches???
Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me which fords were fitted with a hydraulic clutch?
Any of the Mondeos? Later Escorts maybe?
I'm looking for parts that may be suitable to convert the cable clutch on a BC gearbox to hydraulic.
Has anyone got any experience with adapting a cable clutch system into a hydraulic system?
Cheers all

Sounds like a Mongdeo gearbox might work for me since i'll be able to find one in a scrappy easily.
Tabetha- How easy/difficult did you find converting the XR4i box to hydraulic? What parts did you use?

Pretty sure the Mk1 mondeos had them aswell, ive taken some mastercylinders off a few and most had the connection for the clutch pipe on the reservoir.
As i say pretty sure it was a MK1 but theres a slim chance they were Mk2's, but unlikely

Yes MK1 defo had hydrailic, later MK1 as earlky ones were cable(not 100% sure)
XR4i converted easy to HYDRAULIC with kit of brakets made by MAGNUM ENGINEERING, but easy to make yourself, just fiddly with upside down welding, and weld drops in your ears make you do a funny dance!!
The master cyl was mounted oin the bracket next to pedal with remote reservoir and pipe on bulkhead panel near fuse box.
The m/cylinder was from a sherpa van as was correct size for the slave cylinder at gearbox, use a slightly biiger bore m/cyl as you can always reduce travel at clucth end, if to small you won't shove enough fluid to operate on each push of pedal.

Hmm.. just thinking.. How do I choose wich size/or wich car to "steal" these component from??? I have read that there are some pistonsize to think about, when getting master/slavecylinder..
I have a dream of doing it on my EscCos... seems to be a simple thing, but dont know how to choose cylinders
