Default Ohm's law and changing wire lengths.

Hello peeps, can I please trouble your brains.
I am in the middle of putting my engine from out of my orion turbo into my series 2.

The car in question used to run cossie management so half of the loom has been cut off under the bonnet by the fuse box. I have seen a wiring diagram and I can get power to the two computers and stuff but when I solder in the feeds from the ecu's to the sensors and switches, can I take the wires directly to each components and not following the loom where it would normally go (right round the front by the radiator)?

I am worried that if I half the lenght of the wires then I would also half the resistance so would this give false readings from my coolant sensor or throttle pot etc and cause my car to not run correctly?

Or am I being a bit stupid

Cheers in advance folks.

considering the length of the wires ur talking about , u wont have any trouble with resistance differences .
but wouldnt it be better to just use a complete loom ?.

won't make any difference - the resistance of the wires is negligible compared to the sensors.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Oh and I would normally of changed the complete loom like I did with my orion, but my new car is de-locked and has an alarm wired into it and I don't know a great deal about messing with alarms.
