BADLY SMOKING S1
HI ALL ANY HELP
I HAVE A TRANSPLANTED XR2 MK2 USING THE S1 ENGINE IT SMOKES VERY BADLY, COLD AND ,HOT SOME CLEAR SMOKE ,SOME BLACK AND IT STINKS WHAT COULD IT BE

Clear smoke will be water - White smoke
Head gasket ??
Black smoke would indicate that it is overfueling.
Sensor - cold start valve ??

You sure the majority of it isn't just steam? Big exhuasts create a lot of steam in this cold weather.
If the engine is unknown to you do a compression test as a starting point

Ye defo do a compresion test i thougt my turbo was fooked and bought a new 1 turned out to be engine problem defo do it m8 it will save you a fortune
