Sounds 2 me like ur boot catch has seized, get inside ur boot n try n open ur boot, then get some lubrication like wd40 and try n free the catch off.

drop the back seat and as you look at the lock mech there is a small bracket(that moves up and down slighty) that part connects to the release part that connects to the part that moves when you pull the lever and I'd say that it HAS dropped so you HAVE to push it back up so that the lever mets to it when you pull the release handle(get some one to move the lever inside and you'll see what I mean!

sorry my bad I was thinking about that as I have removed my catch of the small part of the seat in mine for this reason as my boot de- locked!

what I suggest you do is get some tape or a cloth around the lock and get some molegrips/slip jaw pliers and twist the lock anti clockwise and the clip that holds the lock in place will fall off and then you should be able to open it that way(then you will see what I mean in my 1st reply)
