Default opinions please

i have just recently bought another 2wd saff, and when i'm acelerating i'm getting a clonking noise from near side front, just like the noise off a cv boot.
it only happens when the suspension rises under aceleration or taking a left hand corner. taking a right corner its silent as its getting compressed, i was thinking dodgy spring, any other opinions please.

cheers craig

I had the same problem a few years ago. I took the shock off and it was totally knackered. The telescopic bit could rock back and forward in the housing and that was making the knocking noise.

Difficult to check for with the strut still on the car...
