hi iv got a s2 rst 89 on a g when i turn on the ignishen the battery light only comes on when it wonts to iv put two new batterys on it new starter and a new alternater and it still not charging but same as i say the charge light dont all ways come on on the dash the only way i know is when my head light go dim or it just cutts out can any one help

 

Firstly you need to get it so the light always illuminates before you start the engine, if the bulb isn't on initially it won't charge.

You will find a thin blue wire going to the alternator, clean the connections on the plugs (both inline plugs and the one on the alternator) and see whats happens then firstly

You need to continuity test the blue wire then, chances are it may have an internal break, and when it moves around with the engine it intermittently goes open circuit.

It may sound daft but if the battery light isn't on when you turn the ignition on your battery won't be charged.

 

ok thank il try the bulb in the dash iv change the blue wire other day but only did the sort loom from alternater down to the starter thanks a lot

 

After years and years the PCB's on the back of the instruments can go dirty, ive got a bulb on my dash that intermittently comes on and off, usually giving them a few twists cleans the copper up and sorts the problem.

If your still having problems when you've sorted the bulb out give me a shout
