put a tiny bit of grease on the inside of the collets and they will stay in place when you release the valve spring compressor tool

got the last 6 done there in 15 mins an not one f word. like a kid at christmas. now the big rebuild

fittin them again. have to wait on my mate mechanic now useless wi cars. hopefully he can be quick get back out on the road. then spice it up a little

I know it a bit late to reply but..... A telescopic magnet make life really easy to remove them and grease to fit them

Ive never had a problem with collets as such. Were you using the tool for the job or was the head off the car?

good advice is to put a rag down on the one your working on,fuck all worse than one of the bastards falling and going right down to the sump

lol. have the head off at the mo lost one takin it off an ordered a new set just incase but the sent 31 wrong an one rite luckily i lost no more after well none tht i didnt find

Thats lucky then
Thinking about it i did also remove and refit my valves and didn't have too much trouble. The proper CVH tool does make life a lot easier though

It does make life so much easier
I know how to get the collets out of the sump, I did it on my RST years ago, Telescopic magnet down the one of the oil returns, That works a treat

Thats a good idea actually, duno why i didn't think of it!!
But, sorry to say the sumps coming off anyway so ill just wait til then i think
