it is that easy you'll have to disconnect the rear arb if fitted too though. support the bottom arms with a jack then let it down slowly once you've undone the bolt at the end under the middle of the car, stops the spring pushing down with the force of it compressed and possibly causing injury

Bollucks to that! Undo the 2 bolts hodling the shock to the hub, MUCH easier, and you don't have to worry about anything flying out, and its also a LOT easier to get the hub back inline with the shock, those inner arm bolts are hard enough when you are bolting up the arm with nothing else connected, let alone figthing against the shock, tie bar, rollbar and the spring!!!????

huh? just done the rear springs on our stripped mk3 and havent had any of the probs you just mentioned, nothings fighting you as the spring is compressed by the extra jack under the arm....

undid the back bolt, lowered the jack, levered the arm down, spring out, new one in, jacked up the arm, bolt back in. 20 mins a side?!

lol, seriously. use the jack to get it about right height, push or pull it to get it in line horizontally then bash the bolt thru with the lump hammer, if it's out a smidge it'll pull it into line...

note!! depending on how short the springs are!! on occasions weve had to use a tie wrap top and bottem so they dont dislodge on full droop!! in fact a sports car firm in nottingham!! used a piece of rope as part of there lowering kit!!!-thats no joking either (this only relaites to rears by the way-last thing you want going over a fast yump!!!!!!!!!!!! --guru7001/2

If your fitting springs that low you should really be finding some shocks with shorter shafts aswell.

lol, dont take it over the top, i meant, if its not 100% lined up, say 80%, then seeing as the head of the bolt isnt square, give it a love tap and it will pull into line... thats why they make the bolt heads like that, so they "start" to go into the hole when it's not fully lined up?
