oh yeah sorry
that's what i meant to reply with
so far i've pushed it 'reasonably' hard and not had any issues handling wise at all.
it steers so well now, just goes around corners tight and without fuss. i haven't had any understeer of note at all.
i haven't had a chance to go mad yet..but i have pushed it to the point where it would have understeered before on the old setup, i'm glad to report it doesn't now.
you're more than welcome to come and have a go btw
if your ever over this way?

What's next on the agenda or are you pretty happy with the "feel" of the car now?

JJ,
Depends on whether or not you are able to achieve your target settings on your current set up. If not, then the top mounts allow fine adjustment that cannot be achieved any other way. This is because unlike the Jap style ones, these ones are adjustable in BOTH plains
.
The main reason I want them is to be able to run 2° neg camber on the road, and then quickly adjust the setting to 3° on the track, as the excessive camber makes the front end too twitchy on the road. So having these and marking up the two different positions will enable me to quickly switch between the two at will

I came across this very old, but very good thread about improving the handling of Cosworths. So let's revive it.
Last year I fitted a 6 degree beam to my 4x4 sapph and it has reduced the understeer on turn in massively. But the car still has quite a bit of understeer when exiting corners. I have the feeling that it is caused by the front having no lsd, causing the inside front wheel to loose traction. Does a front lsd cure the understeer at corner exit? I suppose the lsd shouldn't be too tight, as otherwise it will cause understeer on turn in?

I will need to read through the whole thread but Mike Rainbird really seems to know what he is saying.
I would also say that Understeer on track is often a technique issue and training from a good instructor will make a HUGE difference. We spend thousands on our cars and take very little tuition.
One of my friends had a 993 Turbo 4 911 and complained that he could not dial out the massive understeer. He was taken out by the instructor and he drove it without any understeer just showing him how to trail brake it in, when to settle the car and when to fully get back on it. He also showed him gentle left foot braking to keep the car on line.
Often a gentle lift will tighten the line and learning to dial in a small amount of steering to weight up the front suspension and then steer hard after makes a huge difference. There are many more advanced techniques that can be learned.
