Ok, stage 1, just put the head back on after a full rebuilt - I have three problems at the moment:

-First, there's smoke coming out from the exhaust manifold area, it smells oily. Only thing I can think of is that I couldn't get the plug to return oil to the sump from my breather to screw in completely. I haven't cross threaded it cos it was real easy to screw in at first. Looking down with a torch, it doesn't appear to come from there. Can the new exhaust manifold be the cause. One of those things that gets better with time ?

-Second, she starts ok, rev her up and let go of throttle, she goes back to idle, starts hunting and stalls. That only seems to happen when she has warmed up.

-Third, I found this on the floor, I think it comes from the standard breather system which is now in the bin, can you confirm please ?




Due in for an MOT on sat morning, so I would like to sort it all out before then.

the first one----> dont know
the second ----> maybe your throttle position sensor is failing
the third ----> yes it comes from the breather under the inlet.

correct if im wrong

 

Thanks winwerf, so for the third one, I can chuck it in the bin with the rest then.
