Does anynbody know if the gearbox or gear linkage from a j reg RS 2000 will fit on an R reg 1.8 gti zetec escort as my is buggered on my 1.8 gti and I have an RS 2000 gearbox sat in my garage

 

no it wont, there different boxes

 

actually the MTX75 box will fit the zetec, but you will need the flywheel and clutch to go with it.

you will also need the gear linkages and poissibly a different rear gearbox mount.

but they will go on

i have the correct flywheel, for the price of postage - its yours (bloody heavy tho)

 

aye, for some reason i read the linkage, didnt see that you would fit the box too.
theres an extra mount at the rear of a mtx75 which bolts to the subframe, not all subframes have it though

 

Ive got a complete rs 2000 but all the electrics are done so I was gonna break it for spares, so I have the linkage and everything but am still unsure as to weather it will fit

I use the 1.8 GTI as my day to day runaround and want to avoid throwing loads of cash at it if possible so

DO WE THINK THE BOX AND LINKAGE WILL FIT ( YES OR NO )

 

If you have the mount on the subframe yes.
Have a look under the car, its quite visable

 

if you got the whole car then its easy, just swap the complete subframe for ease, unless the GTI is EXACTLY the same.

but you will still need to swap flywheels and clutches

im pretty sure the rs2000 one will fit the zetec crank, but if it doesnt drop us a pm with your addy and ill sling my 2.0l zetec fly in the post to you
