Default cold start rs2 series2

my mates just got a series 2 escort and it wont tick over whilst cold any ideas??????? i just got one and it ticks over mint, so dont know whats wrong any help please?

could be one or more of many things, try...

checking plugs on back of engine are correct, thermo timeswitch, coldstart valve, aux air device etc.

Check that your aux air device on back of engine is working properly ie opening and closing.

Check idel control screw is set correctly.

check air pipes to aux air device and the throttle body are clean and S*** free.


these are just some basic things to try, there are moany more possible reasons lke fueling etc.

have u tried removing the blue plug from the cold start valve?
whilst cold?

I've told you many times before, and i'll tell you again

The cold start valve doesn't operate once you stop cranking

This is a classic symptom of an air leak.....i used to have the same problem, for the first 30 secs or so it would idle mint, then slowly slowly bog down, and usually when revving and coming back down it would cut out, was fine once hot though.
