Default Gearbox research for series 1.............

Fellow series one owners I am in need of a gearbox and thinking of putting in a stage one box in from the gearboxman. Just wondered if any body out there had also gone down this road and if they had any problems at all.

Cheers.

Bernie/CTS/Gearboxman comes highly recommended. I have a Stage 2 Plus box from him with NO problems.

There are also many other satisfied customers on here.

Whenever me or one of my mates are repairing a BC type gearbox, we always upgrade to the larger IB5 style bearing at the same go (it's always the layshaft's roller bearing that goes). Cost ~25£ from Ford and not one has yet failed. The differential bearings should be change at the same time. Others if necessary. Bearings and gaskets are in general quite cheap from Fords. You might wan't to get a full kit also from here:

If you want good service or a ready built upgraded gearbox, then Bernie (nic=gearboxman) is the man to talk to.
