Default OFAC fault codes

Just checked for fault codes, I have 2

31 - ECM ROM/RAM failure

72 - WCS

I know why the WCS (Wastegate Contol Solonoid) shows up, I havnt got one connected

As for the other, It has baffled me a little, It does it on 2 different ECU's. I thought my original was faulty due to this fault code so I tried another, The fault code is still there

Have you got a chip fitted? A poor connection will throw up error 31.

Mine threw up a 31 when i had a slightly dodgy battery !!!
Something like low voltage to the ECM.

1 Thing i've learnt over the past 5 days is EARTH EARTH EARTH EARTH EARTH.

Never underestimate the effects of a slightly dodgy earth. !!

I would have said a poor connection can also throw up this error but that's on the assumption that the checksum has been recalculated or the checksum check routine had been disabled. It's poor state of affairs if the chip vendor cannot be bothered to recalculate the checksum, a to you Stu and opposite for the others.
