If it won't idle you must have an air leak.

If it won't idle how do you now its getting hot very quickly?

Presumably an MFI RST? If so you clearly have an air leak.......also have you got a dump valve?

well mate you dont mention if its the turbo housing itself thats getting hot because i had something simmilar on my first engine i put in if it is check ignition timing at dizzy cap mabe needs advanced you dont mention how much boost mines used to glow red in very short drive though a cant remember exactly but a think turning it back towards car is advance and forward retard but double check first but if this is the case usally it would pink on boost

As SafeChav say's may be an air leak check all the boost hose's are on tight and the dip stick is in properly.

back to basics here was it ok before u changed the turbo?

if so the only pipes u will have touched is the boost pipes so make sure they are all seated correctly and tight!
