Default Cossie problem

A question you the technical bods! I took my cossie for a blast as soon as I got back from holiday and whilst having a tear up the engine stuttered popped a bit then lost all power! I thought cos I was low on fuel (I was heading for the nearest shell garage at the time) it might have run lean and busted a piston or rings! I did a compression test yesterday and the readings were 70 psi, 70psi, 60psi and 80psi I haven’t had the head off yet but from these readings does taking the head off sound like a good place start or are these reading ok? It would idle but it was slightly lumpy as soon as you tried to put it under some load it would stall?

You might have blown a headgasket. You need to test the cooling system for exhaust gasses.
