Default Escort Cosworth speedo.

Right then, I know that there is a speedo drive cable coming off the left hand driveshaft, but my speedo is all over the shop at the mo - too fast, too slow, bouncing about when stood still. The speedo must have an electrical sender surely, and the manual drive is just for the odometer??? Anyone else had this prob or know if you can replace the sender. I would guess it works off one of the ABS sensors???

no, it works off the cable. has the cable got too hot at any time? if so, the cable can get stuck in the sleeve and give you those symptoms.

i guess you're gonna have to replace the cable. undo it from both ends and see if you can turn it smoothly with your fingers.

er, I'll have a check next time I'm out in it. I just thought it couldn't be the cable cos it was moving about when I was sat at some lights, also the speedo is over reading by about 10 - 15 mph(still jigging about).
