Just wondered how you check if you have a maram shaft in your turbo?

I was told there non magnetic is this true ?

As i've tried this and yes it is non magnetic

I know there are numbers to look at but i cannot be bothered to take exhaust off to check.

Do I have one or not?

To be honest, i think the shafts in all turbos are stainless, and stainless isn't magnetic. Im not 100% though

 

Maram is indeed non magnetic and their should be 247 on the shaft somewhere.

I think those are the only ways of telling you've got a maram shaft.

 

IS 247 the grade of steel used then?

 

247 is pressed into the back of the shaft, the only other way to be certain mate is to remove exhaust
