Default probs with my s2 rs turbo

Im having a few problems with my newly aquired rs turbo. Firstly it seems to jolt sometimes under boost. Secondly its sometimes only boosts at 4-5psi, thirdly im having probs gettin 3rd and 4th gears, the heater matrix has been bypassed so not hot air and lastly it doesnt start very well first thing in the morn. Any help or suggestions much appreciated. Other than that its mint!!

Jimmy, when you say jolt, can you be more descriptive?ie on boost/off boost as well?have you a boost gauge?I assume you do coz you say that it only boosts 4-5 psi sometimes.Does the gauge drop with the jolt or after it?do you think the jolt is the engine cutting out?The gear problem could be clutch (try and slip it)if not then a gear linkage or worst the box itself.See if its been taken apart or better still speak to the bloke you got it off. Finally the matrix has probably been taken out the loop coz its fooked mate.startin in the morn could be a million things. If your not clued up I would say take it to a garage,Itll be quicker to find the starting prob.

jolting could be caused by over boosting, which would explain why it cuts the boost.
gear selection prob could be the ratchet and pawl on top of clutch pedal,
used for self adjusting of clutch cable

hi
i live with jimmy and the jolt is like the car is kicking back at you cos i dont wanna go any faster. once its jolted the boost does drop down again.
this car is normally boosting at 9psi.

also the fan has a constant feed on it so when the car is started in the morning from cold it dont start - could this be because the ecu thinks its hot cos the fan is always on.?????

think this might be caused by a faulty intake temp sensor,
you know, the one screwed in to the charge carrier that goes across the top of the engine

as for the cold starting problem, i know this might seem stupid, but,
has the battery be charged recently, as when you go to start the car,
if there is something draining the power when the car is not running,
it will be harder to start in the mornings, but once it has been run for a while,
it should get easier.... just an idea mate

i thought about this ill have to look at it wen it stops raining.

as for the jolting its the sort that u get wen you get fuel starvation and it doesnt affect the boost. When it only hits 4-5psi its usually after hard acceleration although it does just do it sometimes
