Default Clutch Noise

Got a new clutch fitted this weekend

Its an AP kit with heavy duty cover and organic plate

The clutch works fine apart from a funny noise when i lift my foot of it or the car is sitting idle. As soon as i tap the clutch (even slightly) it stops.

Phoned my mechanic and he said he is not sure he can do anything as its self adjusted.

1. Is there anything i can do ?

2. Clutch works fine but is it doing any harm ?

Probably just the thrust bearing rattling on the shaft, some cars do it, some don't annoying as fuck though isn't it

Shouldn't be that loud though, turn the stereo up a bit

its not to loud no but is annoying round town dont hear it on the motorway

just concerned it might be damaging the clutch somehow. i take it from you reply its fine and i have nothing to worry about ?

if i sit my foot on the clutch without even pressing it in it stops.

will it maybe stop if i get the pedal lower ? can you do this ?

Its a common thing for thrust bearings to rattle, because they are being pushed into the diaphram springs. Resting your foot on the pedal is enough to touch the bearing on the springs and stop it rattling (this also being the reason u shouldnt drive long distances resting your foot on the clutch pedal )

As long as it is the thrust bearing, which it sounds like it is, then it should be fine. If its literally brand new give it a few miles and it may stop anyway.

I don't know if the pedals on sierras are adjustable or self adjusting, most fords are self adjusting. But even if you could adjust it you wouldn't want to because it would have the same effect as resting your foot on the pedal.....wearing everything out quicker.
