Hi Jakki, you still not sorted this?

after our conversation a while ago i would have said the rad....could u borrow some1's??????

got a gut feeling about this...when i had mine rebuilt i had exactly the same problem... (as i said in our conversation) i had a fairly new rad so was quite concerned something serious was wrong when i had the same problem u are decribing... Luckily my friends 4b4 saff was off the road so i borrowed his rad for the afternoon...installed in and bled the system and volia problem sovled.
But as u say u don't wasnt spend some wedge on a rad when it's not the problem..hense me asking if u have a friend who can help you out

good luck

P.s yes that was a tanned me with the glasses on sunday

do a compression test, or get one of them tests done that tells ya if theres exhaust gasses in the coolant, then ya will kno where ya stand

could possibly be airlock, blocked rad or knackered water pump tho, u tried running it without the thermostat? ive had a brand new thermostat that was knackered

Ford thermostats have been giving problems of recent...

A halfords one (HTK606 is the part number) will fit and is only Ł6ish. Just make sure it's got 82 degrees stamped into it and not 88 as some do....

are you sure the engine is not running lean. that could make the temp rise also. i have almost the same spec and the temp is staying no the m all the time.

If the head has been ported then your current map is not fuelling correctly. If ya don't sort it it'll possibly blow up when you nail it.

Have the cooling system pressure checked and tested for exhaust gas.

You want a 88 degree stat not an 82 one.

If the pipes are getting hard you have 1 of 4 problems.

1) Air in the water.
2) Headgasket failure or worse.
3) Headertank cap failure.
4) Very excessive temperature. (110+)

4x4s are 82 degree Steve

think im gunna ave 2 ave the head off

how many miles has it done ?????
As all engines will use a drop of oil and run a little warm when just built!!!
However i would def get both fans working as that would help

I have a similar spec to you and whenever i pull up anywhere my fans kick in!!!
for the 1st 1000 miles my engine used over 2 litres of oil and ran hot all the time

now it uses minimal oil and temp has settled down( you can still burn your hand on the expansion tank though)

i had the same problem this was due to the car running to lean on boost.......the easiest way to check the rad is,,get the engine up to temp wait for the fans to kick in,wait for them to kick out out then feel up and down the finning on the radiator if there are any cold spots then it is blocked.....never fails!!!
