Default Rounded Sump Plug - Zetec 1.8

Got a day off today, want to do a couple of general maintenance tasks to me escort, oil & filter change have been on my list but I just haven't got round to sorting it

The sump plug is quite rounded and tight, and I can't get it off any ideas to get em off? I'll replace it with a new one when it's off!

Well it depends on what lengths you've gone to and want to go to...

Im guessing you've tried mole grips etc and had no luck?

Has it got any of the Nut body shape left or have all corners rounded off?
If some are left, get an impact Hex socket (the socket is the same shape and the plug head) this might help get it off.

Worse case scenario, tack a small length of steel rod/bar to the sump plug such that it creates a lever, then undo the plug........

Good luck

get a flat punch and hit the edge of the sump screw
knock it anti clockwise as the shocking from hitting it will loosing it up too as soon as it starts to move get a set of molegrips on it so u dont damage the threads

heres the expansion set, so get the one with the size/sizes you need

well worth the money, my set was over Ł100 but earned its money in the first day on a tprx head bolt that sheered off

Go to your local garage and ask them to mig weld another nut onto your rounded off one.Bung them a fiver and go home and undo the nuts that are welded together. Will be the best fiver you,ve ever spent.

or file two straight edges off the nut and remove with an adjustable spanner!
