Is there any way I can lock my Mk3 Escort boot from the inside? Like a wee switch or something?
The key ain't working in the lock & I don't fancy leaving it unlocked all the time.
It's an early W reg.

 

Take the trim that covers the lock off the inside of the tailgate.Disconnect the rod from the lock.Now push the lock inside to the locked position,then close tailgate.Hey presto tailgate is now locked and can only be opened from the inside by pushing the lever on the lock to the open position.

Sorted now, there was no rod connecting the lock & the catch but I had a proper rummage about & found a switch that I managed to click into the locked position - so woohoo for that!!
