try looking on bottom of engine at front. right underneath the turbo downpipe theres a 2 pin connector block. If the wire has fallen out it wont start. check it connected properly. It called the '......' (cant remember lol) have a look anyway fella. its a sensor!

i have no idea what that sensor is and ive never had one on any s2 or s1, oh well,

i think you may have your fireing order wrong, check that when the cam pully is on the marker... the rotor arm is pointing at lead number 1, from there on the order is 1,2,4,3, (clockwise)

No CPS on an MFI, EFI only.

Check the spark order as Biglee said, although he does it in reverse, i prefer to do it the way the engine spins, the plug at :

12 o'clock is cylinder1
9 ................cylinder 3
6.................cylinder 4
3.................cylinder 2

And to look at:
................1

..........3..........2

................4

Make sure the cold start injector is unplugged when you next try, classic for overfuelling.

Is there reasonable fuel pressure?

Have you checked for power to fuelling ECU? It is possible to start and run them without power but its a nightmare. The fuse is in the slot labelled as heated seats IIRC. And check the brown block in the fusebox with KE stamped on it isn't loose (and also that it is there!!)

Fuel will come out of the injectors, like most its a fail safe system, if something fails it will still operate, basically like K Jetronic (XR3i) no enrichment though, and it runs like a bag of poo cold, and wont boost properly. I left the earths off once without noticing and it was a nightmare to start cold, although wasnt as hard as some people find it to be.

I'll double check which fuse it is i always forget, im sure its that one.

The brown thingy can be seen in this picture although i cant remember which slot its in on a S2, as you may notice this is a MK3 fusebox (MK3's dont normally have this )

I said you fuse box will vary to mine, as mine is a MK3 fusebox. But the burn't hole isn't good, i don't think its got anything to do with your problem but even so.......

Can you take a picture?

If you have fuel and spark its unlikely to have anything to do with the alarm. The alarm usually intervines fuel and spark or ignition.
Have you checked for power to the fuelling ECU etc as i said?

Havr you checked the state oif the dizzy cap and rotor arm. Just cos it sparks doesnt mean they are in a good state. And are you 100% youve got the firing order right.

If its sparking the dizzy is working. They usually only play up higher in the rev range when they develop intermittent faults.

If its 180* degrees out then obviously yes.........the wiring plug should be on the top of the distributor.

Its unlikely, all it does it produce a square wave output for the ecu, if you are getting sparks its producing the signal?

Hmmmm, have you tried adjusting the mixture screw? And is the cambelt all timed up correctly?
