Default sierra ENGINE CONVERSION !

i have a 90' sapphire cosworth replica > with a ridiculously mint body shell & interior ! but is fitted with a nasty oil burner of a 1.8 CVH >

i need somebody iwth some experience / knowledge to point me in the right direction as what to do with the power-plant e.g

what could be wrong with the cvh > burning oil "heavy smoke" above 4000rpm ! > is it worth fixing ?

zetec conversion > 1.8 / 2.0 zetec > even the i4 RS2000 engine > has this been done b4 ? and if so how hard of a job is it > prices etc... i've seen zetec's in fiesta's / escort's but never in a sierra !

an RS turbo engine ! > is this a direct replacement ? what difficulty's will i heave with the loom > and petrol tank etc ???

a large capacity 2.8 / 2.9 ? xr4x4 > is it feasable to convert to 4wd ? is this cost effective and a simple job?

i'm on a tight budget > but it's such a shame to let this car down with a nasty engine !

"cosworth is a NO NO" > insurance & cost put a stop to that !

any help / info / parts offered ... much apprecaited ! cheeRS simon

right the cvh is probably smoking due to worn valve stem seals, not that big a job, but it could also be piston rings or bores if there is constant smoke at higher revs. not worth fixing really.

as for engine transplant, an rs turbo, rs2000 engine are going to be a lot of hassle and money to fit and get running on your saph.

if i was you, i would source an xr4i and swap the engine, loom, petrol tank, gearbox, etc. straight swap, and a lot more fun than the shonky 1.8.
best thing is there are lots of tuning parts still easily available for the 2.8/9. stick with RWD lots more fun than 4WD

2.0 litre zetec it m8 you have the 1.8 cvh running gear it should'nt be that hard to bolt it all up. it should be a bolt in replacement on your 1.8cvh you just need to sort the clutch out which uses a combo of your clutch and 1.8 cvh flywheel *I think* the zetec engine loom\brain is seperate from the main focus\mondeo loom it just needs splicing into your 1.8 cvh loom

check this out for RWD zetec applications.

personally i would go for a 2.0i OHC from a sierra. get the head skimmed and port it and fit the high torque cam for the injection injection and you'll have a lovely torquey motor that will be about 120 bhp with a free flow filter and exhaust
