went to start the escort lastnite and the key won't turn past the on position.

the crack is, turn off the imobilisers and then turn the key and all the ignition lights come on on the dash board, but thats as far as the key will turn, therefore i can't get the car to start tried everything but key just won't turn any farther

any idea's would be great

 

if the key itself turns further but nothing happens it can be the box behind ignition barrel, happened to me before, the plastic slot wears away, take off plastic steering column surround, undo the two tiny screws under the left hand side of barrel, pull apart and check the slot on middle, hope this helps

 

nah thats the problem, key won't physical turn past the on postion on the ignition, once the dash board lights come on, the key just won't turn any farthur
