Default Loads! lol

I bought a wee escort..

1995 mk5 1597cc 16v petrol

for cheapness..

few teething problems;

1 - The trip meter said I done 400odd miles when I KNOW I never even done 80 miles. Anyideas?

2 - The outside wall of the passenger side tyre was worn to fuck, tracking?

3 - when the wheel is full lock (left or fight) the wheels stick a bit and want to stay on full lock when going forward.

4 - I speed up in 3rd and the front end goes unstable a bit

Any help/advice is appreciated

ps; i know its not a turbo or anything but its still a ford lol

LOWER SUSPENSION ARM
3 - when the wheel is full lock (left or fight) the wheels stick a bit and want to stay on full lock when going forward. LOWER SUSPENSION ARM

4 - I speed up in 3rd and the front end goes unstable a bit LOWER SUSPENSION ARM,DO BOTH THEN GET TRACKING DONE

HOPE THIS HELPS

3 bolts mate very easy job

remove wheel
look at bottom of the hub(were the brakes bolt on)
there is a metal arm with ball joint on the end to the brake hub

remove the bolt that goes through the bottom called pinch bolt(replace on refit)

them 2 bolts about 15mm i think undo both these bolts with 19mm spanner holding the nut on top of the bolts when all loose wiggle arm off

reversal for refitting

spray some wd40 on the nuts of the 2 big bolts b4 removal

garage will charge Ł100 for doing this ,arms only cost Ł20 from local parts shop

for 2,3 & 4 as above, and the trip meter......your speed sensor is probably fucked its on the gearbox inline with the speedo cable.

Cheers lads, I will source the parts tomorrow & fit them if its dry

Thanks again

Will look into the speedo thing also

ps.. its not a digital display for the milage of the car.. when it reaches 100k I take it goes back to zero?

This speedo thing has apparently been like this for a year, and the guy used the car every day so im thinking ive found myself a mint mk5 with around 70k

cheers again

Oh.........i see
i must admit i was sat here thinking a mark 5 with an electronic computer lol.

Well, in that case, could have had the box changed or summit, the speedo drive gear is available in 3 types, but i dont think any of them will make the much difference, get a new speedo is my guess
