Exclamation ST170 gear linkage help

The gear linkage on my ST170 keeps popping off the gearbox, iv previously zip tied it but the rubber part that goes on the ball joint has worn too much to the point where it wont entertain a gear change without coming off at all.

Can I replace just this end peice (if so where can I get it as I cant find anything) or is it the whole linkage that comes a complete unit, can I get a brand new one as no where seems to have these other than second hand.

Any help would be much apreciated.

Louis

New cables required unless you can find the bits second hand.

Iv rung Ford and the guy found the part on his computer but didnt have any because they dont make them anymore.

He gave me the part number to help me search for one which is 4593550 but I cant find one, looks like myonly option is to buy used and hope the rubber bush is in good condition.

Send a parts request to fordpartsUK.com as they hold a lot of new old stock items.

Right iv aquired a used item off ebay but havent fitted it yet, seems to be a different end to it whete it attaches to the gear box, it has a button on both cables to release it ftom the ball, the one currently fitted is just a rubber bush to keep it on, do any of you know if there where any design improves in later models of ST170?

For any one that wishes to no as its quite a common problem but it doesnt say this anywhere on the internet, there are 2 designs of gear linkage, the one on my 2002 ST170 used a rubber bush design to clip on to the gearbox which after time as with any bush the rubber perishes whereas the replacement I got I can only assume was off a newer ST170 which has a plastic design with a push button to clip on/off and seems a hell of alot better.

So if any of you ever have this issue then know that there is a revised linkage worth changing to.

Hi I'm having the same trouble with mine. Can I ask where you got the part from? . My problem is the bushes on the part which is attached to gear box. I have been told by ford parts that this can only be sold with the full box. Can you help.
