ajamesc. I would say you have skills which are probably above what most owners have. Not many of us would contemplate stripping a gearbox down and re-building it. Most things I would tackle with my Son but things like fixing a problem he had with his 6 speed box on his Impreza we left to a Subaru specialist.
The other thing which makes a massive difference to what you can do yourself is having a decent sized garage with lights and power.

Everyone is different I guess and people are able to do different things. What ever you do it’s great to get out there and do bits as Matt says if you enjoy it in a way it can be an escape

Would think most people on here are 'built'. For me it is down to time, experiance and tools, I've done quite few jobs on our cars over the years, but basic tools and driveway I know my limits! anything major engine or bodywork, then time to call the professionals.

Today's driveway escapade. Oil and water feeds to turbo all sorted, exhaust system all fully bolted up, started on the replacement hoses and fitted the intake and filter

Looks like you are making good progress. Does the car get locked up in a garage at night? I would be worried about low-lifes pinching bits off it.

Unfortunately not. Right under the bedroom window so would probably hear them if they tried

Mine only needs water feeds and a cross over pipe and I'm ready for mapping ..although I've locked it away for a while as I need some family time.

Lovely looking car, the paintwork is very shiny. Have you had it re-painted?

Looking good!!! Nice intercooler and radiator. It will be a very rapid car when its finished I would think. Fair play for doing it all yourselves outdoors and not in the luxury of a big garage.

My cars are built by me, the only thing I dont do is paint, I couldn't drive something built by someone else and enjoy it
