It's failed on the fiesta so can I simply buy a new one or does it have to be a complete pump?
If get it second hand obviously

Yup
Everything works
The system has had in it and is holding the pressure because I've been to Kwik Fit twice and got it done for free
Took a closer look the other day and the pump and stuff doesn't engage even though there is power to add from it
It sure turn, although but easily by hand but with a screwdriver providing the leverage
Not sure where to get a replacement for it though

the pulley kits are really cheap
but on my mondeo i had to remove the pump in order to get to the circlip, what a pain in the arse that was, but on the bench it was 2 minutes, after i'd parked the car up for 8 months
on the fiesta it looks easier but it's trying to get the part in the first place
i got one off ebay for Ł15 for the complete pump so i'm not that fussed for themoment
i'll let you know over the weekend how it goes

Turns out the wire was broken
Or
The wire was so old and exposed to the elements it was scrap for about a foot along
So I tried to find some pounds the same size but no luck so I simply inserted new wires into the old pins, a bit of heat shrink and solder and then a rubber pipe around the outside before fitting some plastic on top
The wire is so exposed and sits right next to the got side of the AC pipe that it was only a matter of time
But now it's fixed and ice cold again, thanks to a free top up from Kwik Fit the other week

But in other news, the magnet on this unit is fixed and not removable so my Ł15 replacement pump was a waste of money

In the Mondeo you can change the pulley AND magnet
But in the fiesta you can only change the pulley, the magnet bit is built into the body of the pump
Bugger
