Default Sapphire Cosworth Rear Wheel Archs

Morning,

I'm after a pair of rear arch repair sections and I was wondering if any of you have had good or bad experiences of buying from a certain person/company. If they haven't fit properly or have been poor quality for example. Car Parts Express sell them, has anyone bought these and they have been fine.

Cheers

Simon

They all need chopping about and massaging here/there to get them perfect, so I wouldn' worry too much

I would definately recommend only using as much of the repair panels as absolutely necessary, localised repairs if you can get away with it

Good advice, I just assumed that they would use the full panel.

Are yours badly rusted? I am not sure when you took the photo of your car but the rear arches look sound?

Fair enough, new metal is the only way to go then. Do it right first time and you will never have to worry about it again.

I have been lucky with my 1990 2wd Saff, it was waxyoiled from new and it has done the job of keeping the rust at bay. I have had it for 23 years now and its passed 23 MOT tests with no rust issues.

Very nice.

I'm restoring mine this next year and I'm taking it back to bare metal. I'm getting all of the issues sorted whilst I'm at it. Should hopefully do me for another 10 years after that.

Just bought a couple of arches from Carparts Express.

I had bits of repair sections cut into mine back in 2009.

I used old engine oil inside the rear quarter panel. As it's nice and thin it seeps right down between the inner and outer arch panel and all the way around the arch. Not had a single bubble come back!

Rust must be taking its toll on our Saffs, there are now only 468 currently on the road with another 900 odd on Sorn!

I am not sure how many are 2wd and how many are 4x4s but a while back there were fewer 2wds.

My understanding was there there are also less 2wd saffs than 3drs now as well? Can’t remember where I read that though..

That is correct, 2wd Saffs will be the rarest of all the Cosworth models in the future.
