Hi Guys,

Is there anybody on this site that can telll me what the letters after the engine number are on the Body coloured plate on the passenger side front slam panel denote on my 3 door Cosworth Sierra.
Mine has been damaged and one letter is unreadable.
The top line on the plate starts with:

-BBE then my engine number then the next letter is unreadable then two x hyphens followed by DB.
Looks like this -BBE GT***** ?--DB.

What should the missing letter be/denote and also the DB after the 2 x hyphens as I can't find any information on this section for the coloured body plate.

Picture for reference and not my own one as mine damaged..

Any help would be great....

 

Bump...surely somebody on here knows what the letters stand for...

 

The first B is the assembly plant, B=Genk. The next BE is model, BE= Sierra 3 door hatchback/Cosworth (type BEF). GT is manufacture date, GT=Apr 86. The damaged letter is only a check digit, calculated by the factory based on all other codes on the EOC (European Order Card). The D is the base version of a sierra, D=L (S=standard, G=GL, P=Ghia, F=XR4). The B is Drive. For an 86 B= RHD. How do you put pictures up these days now that photobucket doesn't seem to work? If I can I will put up a picture with all information for these Build plates. Hope this helps. Cheers David

For some reason I do not see icons at the top of my quick reply box that I see on the attached picture. Does it depend which browser you are using? When I go to 'advanced' I do have a 'manage attachments' button which I have used to attach this picture so it will be interesting to see if this picture is displayed in the post or just a link to the attachment. I see the same items on my laptop using chrome as on my phone using chrome . Seems to work just the same too

I see you have removed your post. I did a search and found your post to the mods about being unable to use the PM feature. I don't know what the story is with that and interestingly I can't PM you either. You can put your email up on this thread if you want. Usually do it via PM so not everyone can see it but don't really see why that would matter.
