The first B is the assembly plant, B=Genk. The next BE is model, BE= Sierra 3 door hatchback/Cosworth (type BEF). GT is manufacture date, GT=Apr 86. The damaged letter is only a check digit, calculated by the factory based on all other codes on the EOC (European Order Card). The D is the base version of a sierra, D=L (S=standard, G=GL, P=Ghia, F=XR4). The B is Drive. For an 86 B= RHD. How do you put pictures up these days now that photobucket doesn't seem to work?
