Default Best oil for a trackday ( cosworth)

hi lads iv done quite a lot of trackdays now and as I'm starting to push the motor more and more on track it's becoming noticeable that the oil I'm using is not up to the job . At oulton park when I come in I had a oil temp of 110 to 115 and the oil pressure on tick over was a shocking 20 psi but leve it to cool down for 3/4 hour and tick over is back to 50 / 60 psi .
Iv all so just removed the 13 row oil cooler and fitted a new 25 row to see if this can help out . But I really think it's time to invest in some proper race not just the run of the mill mobil 1 . I can not tell you the grade as if not got the oil can to hand . You forts on wot would be a good track / race oil for a turbo car .
Thanks for your time lads

I'd ring Opieoils tbh, tell them your mods, driving conditions and the temps your seeing and they'll advise accordingly

A little worrying you dont know the grade you've been using
Maybe it was the wrong grade?

Mobil 1 10w60 should be fine.
If you have been using a watery 40 or below grade that could be a problem, have you got high pressure oil pump?

A good grade 10w50 or 15w50.
I'm now using Fuch Pro Race R 15w50

I'm assuming it would need to be pretty cold for that pressure Stevie

Mine was 43 psi after a hard blast on Sunday at running speed and at tickover I think it was in mid 30's.

If your cooler is to big that will cause you a issue
With filling it and using the cooler full volume

I use a laminova heat exchanger rather than a traditional cooler and have never had any issues, 25-30 minute sessions flat out

they can also be cleaned out if needed if you had any oil contamination or engine failure whereas a normal mocal air type oil cooler will need to be binned

What doesnt seem to add up is that when warm, you have 40psi tickover and it goes up to 40-50psi driving.

Minimum cosworth oil pressure should be 24psi. I have seen just about below this (like you) when coming off track after a 20min session. But it soon recovers to between 25-30psi. Not an issue IMO.

Looks like you have a std pressure oil pump.
A high pressure one should give 20psi more (driving pressure), warm idle pressure stays the same.
