ive started a new thread i accidentally hi jacked lee`s. the crack so far is i thought all 2wd had grey dash with grey cloth seats. mines 2wd 88 e reg the vin says the trim is L . ive got ravern blue dash with the big glove box no speaker next to glove box door. the g/box door is the pull down catch type not squeeze together. i have a red l e d on the top flat surface of the clocks i thought this was sumut some one had put on. the dash has a speaker on the far right drivers side at the bottom next to the drivers door. inbetween the ash tray and the radio theres another compartment where another amp or radio could go. the seats are ravern leather as well with the same colour leather door cards

I doubt many cossies still have the original equipment they left the factory with, dashes warp or had holes in them from 80's 90's phones/speakers, people swap cloth for leather and leather for cloth etc even when new.
Mine had its original dash, perfect cloth but ripped the lot out as every cossie I've owned had cloth and I wanted leather, plus I hate the dull grey dashes

 

 

Look at mine again, has yours got a speaker below the passenger air vent and the big drop down glove box next to it?

Looks like 2wd Saff dash to me.

 

old top no factory l.e.d , small binacle old switches . New bottom , big glove box/lever and big ash tray . Or the inbetween dash pre face lift ie , before big button layoutdifferent binacle .
its deffo not the original interiorRay as I said before, L is shadow cloth on the vin leather is S . Pull the ashtray out have a look at the date code underneath .You also have a look at other plastics and seat belts.

 

i dont have the speaker on the passanger side i do have an l e d on top of the clocks. i just find it intresting i like looking at other peoples stuff as well. i no now it wasnt op/extra because mine is trim L. i dont think the 4wd was out when mine was made e reg 88 must have been one of the first saff`s. so somebody`s fitted the dash & seats but the dash could be a mix an match of face lift pre face lift 2w&4w d iy might of been what the owner at the time could get hold of s/hand

 

would it be a stupid thing to do if i asked if anyone has owned my saff or no anythink about it by posting up my reg number not about the dash but the car in general it would be intresting talking to a few previous owners. would i be asking for trouble like cloning or similar. thanks for all your great replies on this i love this kind of shit

 

I have a very early 88 car and can tell you that's defo not the og dash in yours

as you say should have the squeeze type glovebox with speaker next to it

no joystick control for stereo just a blank instead
also will have had stereo and amp also fitted

It's also got 4wd doorcards with the big square speaker pods.

 

a chap at work has a magenta saff 2wd f reg with trim code.s. its as it left the factory with black dash same colour leather seats and cards

 

Lower passenger section is a 4x4.
Square door speakers are facelift 2wd or 4x4 cos.

 

If you need any info just ask i know a bit about these.

 

ideal thanks would the top and bottom of the dash come from the same vehicle. i like it i wouldnt swop it

 

What differences does a facelift 2wd have over an earlier 2wd??

 

Facelift has square speakers.
Slightly different dash binicle
Clears and smoked rears with number plate surround.
Not many cars about and will be on a G plate.
Still has the 2wd dash lowers with tweeters in the grills and the half glove box.
