Feels good in the car too, set up at AG Motorsport and the Diff locks well with the Maxigrip plate kit

Do you happen to have the geo settings that AG used? I assume yours is more track biased?

I agree that the Maxi kit is a great diff, really pleased with mine and the way it locks

Bara said that a rebuilt 9inch was coming in over Ł3.5k when he does them for the classic lemans boys. He had about 7 lined up when I was up there. That is including buying a diff though

Supra was a cheap option for me cheep to buy and rebuild / fitting kit was far cheaper than a 9 inch. 7.5 ford diff simply will not cut it with the torque I'll have so had to do something. Plus I still have my gripper with hewland c.w.p to sell so will get a grand on that

It was a cheaper option for me too but when I bought and fitted mine, nobody knew about the weak point the rear cover, mine broke took the side mountings out, damaged rear diff hanger, drop links and prop, so not so cheap now I have to put them right, price on top for a diff rebuild and I'm not that far off a 9" price.

Same here,

Ł300 for first diff
Ł175 for spare diff when rear cover broke
Ł495 for fitting kit
Ł280 for rear cover
Ł650 for rebuild and maxi grip kit

So my cheap diff was Ł1900 all in
Then sold for Ł900

a 9" would still be worth what you paid for it.

There wasn't a shortage of parts, the covers were too expensive to make and sell at a profit, just seems to me that the covers need to sell for more OR find a way of fitting them where the cover is not stressed.

It is a very strong diff when used correctly, the drifters love them and big power supras didn't break them.

The old 7.5 inch is often worn out on a cossie and people have broken them.

How are they mounted in the supra's? Youd think thier would already be a stronger cover made if this is the weak point. How yours and others have mounted them in the beam now seems better less parts hardly any need for the original fitting kit just drive shaft adapters and cover

Quick google thier are others looks good too so a modded beam cover just adapters for the shafts they dont look hard to get made looking at mine

The are strong enough Scott and znd there are people that supply covers with a bigger sump to hold more oil as these diffs do badly over heat you are better off with a old jag diff or a 8.8 Ford diff there still cheap enough

I was chatting with Mark this morning about the settings on my beam and he mentioned that he is part way through 20 new diff covers and of a new design.

He will also be making up some hoops without 6 degree and ready for the supra diff without the need for a diff kit. This will work out cheaper than the old diff kit and you can still upgrade to the 6 degree afterwards.

What parts are not available? So far a few standard covers have cracked....not surprising when you see hard launches and rolling burnouts. I believe 1 after market has broken and now there will be new ones coming to market, pre made, not pre order. You could go and pick them up, cash on collection if you are worried about MK delivery.

Bara can rebuild them.

Only issue for me is finding the actual diff to buy.

I have a spare standard cover if anyone wants it, I expect we all have?

I never got into the supra diff crap myself rans I still can't see the benefits from this and having to deal with dodgy 2 bob traders makes it even less attractive

The problem is if the billet covers are breaking too, its more money again for the new design one? A few of us are well over Ł1000 already and still not right. When the standard cover breaks it wipes out the side mountings, damages the diff mounting, drop links etc. this has happened to me I drive the car hard but it was only on a base map when it happened around 350hp. The best idea is the beam modified to take the diff, this is what I need to do now, but dread to think how much that will cost again.

How many have busted a billet cover? Iver way it don't stop the fact a 7.5 inch ford cwp is simply not up to the job if you have good torque and grip. I busted mine 3 times

like u say having beam modified to accept supra diff might be better option, but i paid Ł1200 for 6deg beam Ł450 for fitting kit Ł300 for cover theres nrly 2grand!
i myself would prefer beam modded to have diif bolt too rather than loads of seperate pieces, but at what cost. i paid Ł270 for diff , Ł580 to Bara to be checked over n weir kit fitted Ł2800 all in. its lot of money really when you think about it. but isnt supra diff rated to 1000bhp

The beam modified is a much better and permanent solution, iv no confidence in the kit now or the cover if there are billet covers breaking too, be good to find out how much it would cost to have the beam modified.

Who told you an aftermarket Billet Cover has broken?

Whos cover was it as only me and MK had made them?

If 1 of my covers had broke im sure the customer would of come back to me, i have a customer in Germany who has a 1000BHP drag car ans his cover has been fitted for 12 months with no problems. Are you his new bitch now advertising his diff covers?

Look at post #2 in this thread. Don't shoot the messenger.

I was only mentioning a post on here and no, I am not advertising his covers, just trying to add to the forum, the thread was active about covers no longer being available and I was mentioning that I had heard that they were being made again.

I can also talk freely about anyone's products, I have given good feed back on MT products, MK products and can probably be accused of being a Mark Shead fan boy too.

Have re read the post and I guess he could be saying that the fitting kit sheared, not the cover when his standard one let go? But that doesn't make sense as spare fitting kits ARE available?

Either way, you can relax as that is an MK part and not MT!

Yeah very true. What was the 9 inch originally made for, was it a pure motorsport part or did it come on a certain car?
