Default Had my cossie on the rollers at the weekend...

Went to a rolling road day at the weekend (unfortunately I was only one of two Fords)

Met some cool people and walked away with 513hp so was well happy with that!

I've pretty muched reached the limit of my gt30 now so that turbo will be going up for sale in the new year to make way for something a lot bigger!

I had the car on hub dyno about 6 months ago and it done 460hp @ the wheels and since then I've been meaning to get a flywheel figure for a comparison.

More power coming in 2017....

Cheers Paul

What boost is this running? What's turbo is going on next and power you aiming for? Thats a proper fan on the dyno.

Big number but only 180 bhp at 4500 rpm, does it come in with a bang? Just looked at my graph which only tops out at 468bhp but at 4500 rpm it is making 420bhp and at 4000 it is 360bhp.

Mine is 470ftlb at 3750 rpm compared to 130ftlb on yours....is the rest of the engine standard like mine or does it have the head and cams?

I am only noting this as we have debated lag / spool up on the smaller turbo engines (T34 etc)

Crap pic but you get the idea. the intercooler was not great at that time and I am on a totally standard engine and stud kit (just metal gasket) so Mark held it back a bit. I have since put a Hart inlet on there and a better cooler but not remapped yet.<br/>

This was at 34lb of boost.

Undecided what's going on next, would be interested to go in an efr equipped car but even then anything over a 7064 seems to spool not too far off its equivelant garrett.

Am looking for anywhere between 600/700hp.

Possibly some variant of a gt35r or even bigger.

Cheers Paul

I know what you mean mate but.... I am gonna go bigger so it won't have a quick spool up regardless like your car has on the 7064.

On the road my car is a bit laggy but I just keep it revving in or near it's powerband.

I also have nitrous fitted with an 80 shot which cuts off at 15lb of boost then the turbo power takes over so then the lag isn't an issue.

Nitrous wasn't used on this RR as it would t affect the overall power anyway.

It starts pulling like a train at 3/3.5k, on the road it's awesome!

Its already a fully worked engine in prep for bigger power, head, custom cams, solid lifters, forged Pistons and 8500 Rev limit.

The next turbo up from mine still spools very quickly and is capable of 580bhp, I think with the torque that would make it would be a seriously fast car.

Mark Shead would be able to say how much earlier the power would come in and peak torque and bhp would still be way up on what you have now.

Sorry but that's a terrible graph and if it genuinely represents the way the car develops its power I'd suggest a rethink on the spec is needed

I don't mate, it was at Abbey Motorsport, 460@ the wheels is around 420 flywheel roughly so it all adds up.

What turbo you on for 490@ the wheels? GT30 or bigger? Do you know your flywheel figure?

I want more than 580 buddy.

And I'm not going aftermarket management either.

If you want to use any of this power on the road and enjoy it you might want to try something under 600 on a modern turbo and management set up....drag car, maybe not...don't know....I bet my car as it stands would whoop most old school at 650 on pretty much any track or road.

The choice is yours....nothing, nothing and then Saturn rocket might be pretty exciting

at least that graph is accurate, charlie isn't interested in inflating figures.

but that car looks like hard work to drive and lethargic through the rev range

i would deffo not discount a management change and modern turbo until youve been in one,

im 380/380 on escos p8 webber and t34.63 turbo.

if i had any interest in any more power (which i dont) i would deffo be changing management and going twin scroll

For me After Market ECU & a EFR are the two essentials for a modern Spec YB. Just looking at one of Marks 9180 graphs its on boost about the same as Caddy car & made 972bhp if only we could have done that old school but it was not possible.

Cheers for sharing with us Paul it's good to see people still developing and making there cossie's there own as so many people are now converting back to standard to keep as an investment..

as you said your happy and a graph doesn't all ways represent how the car drives/reacts on the road.

Hopefully when you upgrade you will share again and not receive negative comments.

Cheers Si.

You loose a lot more power percentage than that through the drive train.
