Get Top boss to build you a 600bhp 24v turbo lump

Maybe not eh.

Keep the colour, change the wheels something deep dish BBS style.
A 200 blocked yb with all your goddies job done.

Remember a V8 will be cool but then there costs of exhausts headers management or fook off carbs.

Its a cool car keep it that way

plenty of ford 4.6 svt v8's pop up on ebay, its a cheap way for power and parts are easy to get hold of, the old cast iron block 302 is a bit more expensive for modding now so depends how much money you have, or you can get the new alloy 302 v8 twin cam with vct shipped in a crate depending on spec for $6k usd from ford parts in america but all depends on your budget ofc, good luck whichever way you go anyway

I virtually perfect as it is, a tidy here and there and maybe a Cosworth front bumper painted kit colour and a new set of wheels. Then let Tone worry about what happens under the bonnet. but i'd keep it YB for sure

302 needs a heavy duty block over 500 bhp

If I were to start again I would go for an LS engine

It would be a bit hard to fit the standard 4i wheels over the brakes, even the rear brakes I have are 40mm bigger than a 4is standard front brakes lol

A genuine 550-600 hp engine built right. IMO (and this is IMO only, sure there are a myriad of ways of achieving it) I'd go for something like this:

200 block 10 studded with liners (or one of the new ally blocks from Geoff Page if the bugdet allows - prob not )
CP pistons
2.2 stroker crank
hart inlet
spec-r cooler
twinscroll manifold with BW turbo
3.5" exhaust
Management to suit tuner
Plus supporting breather, injectors, etc - guess you already have most of these.
6 degree beam

Essentially the best bits which should be able to go well beyond 550-600 but therefore won't be stressed and fail quickly or be a cause of worry.

I'd also change those bloody wheels but certainly not for comp's - other wheels for fords do exist

03/04 cobra 32v engine, easy 500+ hp and reliable as you like, more power when ever you want, just stick a whipple on it, comes with a factory fitted t56, for around $6000, engine mount available off the shelf as people stick the modular for engine in the xr4ti in the states, easy to wire, and a nice v8 burble, i'll even find you one and ship it for you

Difference is im at the end of my Petrolhead days & its too late to change but im fully aware that my old girl is an outdated money pit but the older i get the more i realise i cant take my money with me so im cool with the spend.

If i was your age I would not be messing with old Fords .

If you budget is 20k as has been suggested you are probably best to just tinker with what you have maybe a rebuild with the latest Borg Turbo that will transform what you had & a smarten up of the old girl.

The 20k budget was Staffi taking the micky, but I do have half that to spend without having credit/loans.

How about a 2.8 straight 6 out of a E36 328i. You can get a full car for less than Ł800. 197bhp out of the box, minor/cheap modifications can get you upto 250bhp, a decompression plate and a turbo kit would generate horse power into the late 400bhp and there cheaper to tune (Ł per bhp) than any ford or jap engine.

Even the gearboxes in standard format can hold more than double the standard bhp.

Food for thought.

Deffo don't change the colour, or put Cossie bits on it / colour code. Externally it looks awesome and I wouldn't change a thing...

... obviously those jank old wheels need to go (lol) - get a decent set of 17" Image BBS style rims measured up and made for it at the perfect width / ET so it sits lovely.

Then stick with the YB at 500bhp and it will be one of the coolest cars out there.

Done!

Ben

Problem with the 6cyl jap engines you'd have to chop the bulkhead to get it to sit nice, and not be to heavy up front ?

well did a quick search, found a GT500 5.4 supercharged engine, with the later better tr6060 6 speed, with everything needed to get it running genuine 500hp+ when running CAT's at the present exchange rate its about Ł6700

32v cobra 4.6 in sierra engine bay, 5.4 would maybe be a little tall, but a 4.6 supercharged should fit under the bonnet

That's the same lump that's in the MGSVR I don't rate them very much you would have to spend a lot to get good power.

Just stay with the YB Steve.
