and hold it about 2 to 3" away from exhaust and need to rev to about 5/6k and hold it for 20/30 secs. Or you can buy a cheap sound meter from maplins is another way

Static isn't the problem

It's fly by

I can piss static at 87dB, I have no idea on fly by

Hence I won't be booking

Get a mate to hold the db measuring device of your choice and drive past falt out

See what happens you never know.

Will only take a few mins to test and you could do it for free

Thank you for clearing that up steve

As its NOT an exclusive event, Bedford RSOC could potentially still attend on the same day if they wish, and im sure Palmer will give them their own branded link for it too.

Its all a bit smoke and mirrors really, essentially all you get for organising a day with them is first dibs on the spots, at the last minute if there are still spaces left they will open it up to the public as well, and in the mean time if anyone else asks for that day they will be given it too.

Chip,,

there were only 4 or 5 cars from the Beds Grp that ever went anyway..... Most of the bookings were through Passionford members etc.

Steve, agreed, but im just pointing out that in theory they can attend still, and would certainly be made very welcome.

Me being one of the beds rsoc members will be attending and I know a few of the usual suspects from beds also booking so rest assured we will be there.

As this was booked it seemed pointless booking two Steve normally organized and really don't matter who's done it as long as there is a track day.
Great day out!
My car is bad on static but pisses fly by
Looking forward to it first run out after hibernation!

For Your Information -

Trackday / Bedford Autodrome noise regulations -

"The initial test is a static test which is carried out using a handheld meter. Each car is measured 0.5 meters away from the exhaust at a 45 degree angle when the engine is being held at ž of the maximum RPM. In cases where the vehicle has two separated exhausts the measurement will be taken as below from the median point between the two." -
All circuits (Bedford Autodrome) - 101dB(A) (A means "A" weighted ) (i think that "maximum rpm" is open to interpretation- i have a diesel with peak power at 3500rpm)

"Bedford Autodrome also has a 87.5dB(A) drive-by limit which is measured at a distance of 20m." (87.5db is not very loud, but 20M is a long way away)

You could pick up a cheap noise level meter and test your car yourself (it should have an "A" weighted setting)

Or the circuits offer a noise test foc when an event is taking place

If in doubt on the noise, assume you will fail and get some more silencers fitted.

MSV will test your car if you can be bothered to take it along before the event but obviously thats not practical if you live miles away.

I need to get on this asap, but just took delivery of my non resonated centre section. Think I'll need to sweet talk a mate to noise test it for me.

Well it doesn't look like I'll need to worry about the noise now. Milltek dropped a bollock and the part they supplied me with is wrong Need to get it returned now.

MSV have other tracks around the country so you could go there and get a test done:
Cadwell
Snetterton
Brands Hatch
Oulton

Great facilities at Bedford too - Garages/Cafe/Fuel...and FREE tea/coffee machine!!!
