Ford Fair attendance has gone up year-on-year, as has The Classic Ford Show - so from our perspective the show scene is growing, not declining. Smaller shows are struggling, as people are spending their cash more wisely - if it's the choice between going to a show where you've seen it all in a couple of hours, or a show where you struggle to see it all in a day... I know where I'd be spending my cash.
The fact that it is the biggest gathering of Fords in Europe means that it is playing an important role in the Ford scene surely? Obviously it has to make money, but if you saw how much it actually cost to stage an event that size, the entrance fee suddenly doesn't seem so unreasonable!
I'm also not surprised that you got a larger turnout at a your local show.
Finally I totally understand your annoyance at the food prices. But it is set by Silverstone and their food contractors, and we have no control over it whatsoever. Go to any event there and the food will cost the same. There's nothing to stop you from taking a packed lunch
It was not a dig at you Dan , anything thats promotes the blue oval is good in my eyes, shame most on this site no longer own fords ,I have been going FF since the mid 90s when it was in oxford, but if you like its become too commercial nowadays for my personal taste if honest,of course I understand all such events need to show a profit but I do feel we are being squeezed too much in the current economic climate ,lets hope this years one changes my opinion on the event
A quick look at my statistics panel shows just under 40'000 posts created outside of the GD area in teh last 30 days. So what were they talking about in all the Ford specific rooms if it wasnt their Fords?

I hope the weather will be good. Be going with my club as well.
Went Santa Pod the other month and the standard of cars was brilliant! Be good to see what this will be like.
Prices like that make the baby Jesus cry! Thats a bloody con! I know people need to make a profit but those prices are a joke!
Defo packed lunch being taken then.

Food is stupendously expensive, but it always has been, and always will be at somewhere like Silverstone. But, it's expensive at virtually every show. FITP is dead expensive for food, so are most others. Just take your own and then it isn't an issue.
I'll be there, been going for nearly 10 years now, and it's definitely the biggest and best show of the year. My only real criticism is that there's almost too much to see in one day, but that's not much of a criticism really.
I enjoy most of the shows, but FF is head and shoulders above the rest. Can't believe anyone would think otherwise really!
