Thanks again for all the comments people
Was hoping to be able to get quite a lot done this weekend and get a decent update posted, but unfortinately my weekend was completely sabotaged by a hangover, not a lot of progress was made
I decided just to do a couple of token jobs in the end, like painting the rs500 fibreglass splitter ready to fit in a couple of weeks, (cheers John)
Also fitted the fire extinguisher, after deciding on an accessable position, that could be reached by myself or the passenger in an emergancy, going to get a second at a later date, best to be prepared
Was hoping to get the driver seat and harness fitted too, but was to hungover on saturday to go to the fastenings shop and pick up some more eyebolts, and as for the seat well that seemed like far to much effort too, plus i now need to find an old sierra drivers seat so that i can rip the runners off the bottom and mount it that way. Well at least its now got 2 seats
Next stop is to go and pick me gearbox up tuesday afternoon

Nice work,I like the way you're doing the work yourself.Youre a good example to people that you dont need to hand out loads of money to garages/perparation experts to get a good car built. Car looks a 1000 times tidier and cleaner since the project started.Keep up the good work ,regards Micky

Wow cheers guys what a great re-action really didn't expect that
Well i took the afternoon off today to sort the cavalier after it failed its mot at the weekend and after just over an hour spent sourcing parts, i fancied a break so popped down the garage to distract myself for a little bit and that it did. I unexpectively managed to pick up a complete drivers subframe for me seat of ebay last night and after fitting the seat to it while watching telly last night thought i'd put that in before i sorted the cav. Unfortinately it took a little longer than i hoped but thats now secured in place and is still on sliders and is height adjustable, bonus !, sorry about the seat Dean you can always pop round and sit in it if you like, its very comfy
Doing all this however didn't leave to much time to do the cav before it got dark and after getting into a bit of a huff with it, i've just left it outside my house in pieces, doh !, this now means i've got to get up at about 6:30 before i go to work and try and put it back together again, darn cars ! I need it tomorrow too, to go and pick up my gearbox, doh !

Well haven't posted anything for a little while, so its time for a little update as to where i am currently.
Firstly i'd like to say a massive thanks to Dean (the saint) for all your help today , I'd of been proper stuck again without your help mate and i hope theres something i can help you out with soon to repay the favour !, thanks again bud
Right here go's, not done a massive amount to it lately i've been a bit bussy being skint again !, i have now fitted both seats properly and fitted both the harness's in place
I've then spent the past couple of weekends faffing about with the gearbox really, picked up a clutch release arm and gearbox cradle from my local cosworth breaker, cheers again gary. I then needed to get hold of the pin in the bellhousing that holds the clutch arm in place, after finding out these are no longer available from ford i dropped bernie a quick note asking for advice and he advised trying the pin and washer from the type 9 box, it did just the job so another thankls due there
Once i had everything i needed i decided to give it a bash fitting the box by myself, so last saturday i spent a good few hours trying all sorts of props chocks and levers to get it located where i wanted it. Eventually i reluctantly decided that it had beaten me and i would have to call it a day, so returned hope to sulk
Not being one to give in however i had some new ideas when i got home, so headed back down there on the sunday ready to give it another shot !, this time i removed the exhaust off a couple of its mounts, and unbolted the rollbar and pulled that down out the way, annoyingly however i still had the same problems and just couldn't move it into place by myself while lying on my back on the floor, so rather annoyed had to give in again, remove everything, pack up and go home again in a huff
So still not ready to give up this weeknd i enlisted the services of Dean to give me a much needed hand and between the two of us it took us about an hour and a half in all to, drop the exhaust completely (the system has been welded so it's all one piece from down pipe to backbox !), and unbolt the rollbar again, and wrestle about with the gearbox, using a variety of props from a trolly jack, car wheel, blocks of wood, and a brick right the way through to a tin of paint and a fiesta mudflap, before the first bolts could be located and tightened through the block and to into the bellhousing !
It all still needs mounting properly at the back end, but i need a couple of bits firstly the little metal carrier plate that bolts to the bottom of the box (so if anyone has one ) as the one on there has broken and secondly i think i'm going to have to have a bracket made for the 2wd box cradle to attach correctly to the 4wd shell, but my main worry is now sorted, the box in ! , thanks again dean
The back of the box is currently supported by a strap round the cage
Another random shot of today

Good to see you earlier mate, well impressed with the way yours drove, not to harsh, but sat just right and pulled real well with a bit of open road in front, given me some more motivation for mine, me thinks

Time for a small update now, i've been working a shead load in order to have the money to get it running in a month or so, but have got a couple of things done.
Fitted the propshaft and refitted the exhaust system, have also picked up a couple more bits i needed, including an alloy header and a cone filter, cheers john. Also while at work one weekend decided to make some grills to replace the foglights.
Then took the bumper off and got round to fitting the splitter at last
Fitted the bumper back on along with the splitter and grills (which will be powder coated black next month)
Glad i bonnet pinned it on now as it took me no more than 20 seconds to secure in place !
Well happy with that, looks a little more complete, also atcually attached the bonnet pins then
Next stage is the big push to get the engine up and running i think, although there are a few more jobs along the way. I'm taking a holdiday next month so aim to get it running on my return in the first half of june if all goes to plan ?

Ian-cant believe I didn't see this thread earlier, it was only you posting on mine that made me realise what you are doing-TOP JOB mate - this car will be awesome
If you need a bit of bufty help, just give me a shout, those bonnet pins will polish up far shinier than that
