Whooooops!

The new twin plate ceramic kit arrived as stated above just before Christmas.

The ITG air filter also was falling apart so a new K+N filter has been ordered, which should be here this week hopefully. This will relocate the filter slightly higher in the engine bay/wheelarch. Then I need to order some new splash guards for the arches.

Few bits to do before its all set for another year.
i did the same thing in my m3 last year
brandnew bmw clutch
1st burn out nd game over

they said it was a massive hit of heat on a cold clutch that smashed it

funny that, a mate of mine did exactly the same in his.
he took some1 out in it and did what you should never do,
he said
"Whatch this" pmsl,
then tried to do a donut in 2nd gear(by mistake) on a cold car,
smashed the clutch up exactly as in the pictura above. lol

The first burnout was fine

I think it was more down to running heated drag tyres (8psi) and then side stepping a clutch at 7000rpm then keeping my foot in when it slipped.

Well time to sort a few things out..

First off cant beat a lilttle bit of grinder action.

Will be chopping the current wings off this weekend to fit bolt on versions.
With the mods we made to fit drag tyres the current arches look ridiculous on the car with track tyres- as per pic below..

Name: podfes.jpg
Views: 75
Size: 53.2 KB

So its time to have two sets of wings -
1- Standard spec - modified for clearence.
2- Drag spec.

Here we can see todays efforts. Painted white as I have had these scanned to eventually, if I decide to, have carbon wings made.

Blue line highlights where the arch bonds too.
Red area highlights area to be cut off.

I had set about having carbon ones made over a year ago then again with another company back end of 2010. Unfortunatly nothing came of it and delays etc pissed me off. Although im told when they have the time they will carry on with it.

Last minute decision to sort my issue with factory style wings now.
Should have the old ones off this weekend and then new ones painted next week and fitted if I get time one evening.

Ignore the photo of the car as the wheel does appear to be sitting further forward. Where in actual fact its the wing/arch sitting back.

We basically cut out 3" all round to fit the drag slicks in the gap. So the body kit was extended up 3" and back about 2". Hence with "standard" tyre/wheel it looks so wierd!..

Thts why i want some standard wings again then hopefully save those wings and bolt them on for drag racing.

Looking good mate, not that its any help for drag use but my mate runs a LOT of castor on his nova track car and it makes a huge amount of different to turn in on a circuit, is yours adjustable at all or just fixed ?

Liking the wing mods though, very subtle.

i'm no suspension guru

but why is the wheel sitting forward just becuase he is running lots of castor?

i have adj top mounts and it just alters the angle of the shock and the wheel sit's in the same place? certainly dont move forward a fair bit like that one?

The lower arms are adjustable Steve, as well as the top mounts.

I bet that does make a huge difference.

I have sourced some geometry help from a young guy who races in a champion winning MK5 Fiesta. Im going to base mine on those settings this year and work from that.
