ST170 mount as the Focus rs mount didnt fit...

I have to make the st170 bracket fit the dry sump/block set up now though. Drop plate off the block more than likely.

The cast mount from Ford was Ł19 that bolts to the st170 sump
If your using a differnt sump then im sure you can mount the st170 mount to an alloy adpater mount, im working on having one of these machined...

Wont be for another 4 weeks though.

St170 box is that much bulkier it sits the mount lower down due to the bearing/shaft being lower.

You would think Ford would have used the same mount on a few cars.

I ordered this from Performance -trim last year.

It is an exact replica of a standard tailgate, twin skinned and keeps the existing hinges.

I need to call him actually to discuss the latch/ gas strut fitment.

Well it got flung down the road unfortuanlty when my bumper took an early exit over a bump in the road.. so looks a little scuffed and bent.

Its a mk3 VR6 one though which will be swapped for fresh example once the cars back on the road.

going from your heading I was looking for the sump tank? can't see it in last few pages though.

are you using any electric oil pumps with it? is it being housed in the car or bay?

I have a 5L tank with my dry sump and thinking it's a bit big for the bay wanting to put it in the car but looking into it think I am going to have to run an electric oil pump in the lines to feed the block.

Sorry I cleaned up Photobuclet and made seperate albums - in doing so it seems to made all my links in-valid

The images are below of the tank i will be running. This will be in the car behind dash as there is no room in the bay

I have that also and assumed it would be enough but had an old chap, engineer tell me because my oil tank was so far back inside the car I may have to run an electric pump also as he says they did in the old MK2 with dry sump.

didnt know how true it was and assumed the pace item on the block would be sufficiant.

Ideally you need to keep the tank as close to the pump as possible the further away the harder it has to pump, in which case if in the back of the car you would need a larger pump to move it quick enough.

Mine being behind the dash or at worst the passanger footwell its only a metre away from the pump so the set up I have would be more than suitable.

Just place the tank as close as you can...
You have to sacrifice comfort for performance with these cars!
( Im not the passanger thankfully with boiling oil between my jewels)

Never though of the passenger foot well, I was going to place it enitialy behing the passenger seat.

I fiited seat bars yesterday and placed the passenger seat as far back as I could so now may follow your idea and put it in the fotwell, theyll have warm feat at least lol

Looking good Luca, tank looks very good indeed.

Although there isn't much room in your engine bay a lot of people now mount a very tall slimline tank in the bay or one like yours IF there is enough room. Saves a fortune on fittings thats for sure !

Hello Jonny looks good that set up.

Ideally I would love to have the tank in the bay but with the turbo I am just struggling for room...

The only area free would be in the front wing/behind the indicator area!

HOWEVER there is too much putting me off having it sat there –

1) All the weight swinging over the front corner...( for 1/4mile would be great though!!!)
2) If I was to have a ding on track then it’s going to be a Silkolene jet wash for everyone + a new tank.

Keeping it in the car is the safest and most practical way for my application.

Agreed the fittings are crazy money, its cost me crazy amounts to plum the fuel system.

Still have the Oil system to do yet.

TBH mate a LOT of cars have them sitting in the footwell, no issues with doing that. If your worried about the oil then firewall it as the TA cars have to.

RC Developments Evos iirc had them in that position and firewalled and maybe the RCM car if you wanted some inspiration.
