this car is like mine, its been built to full RS spec, with all the RS bits, ok wnt ever have the tags to say its a real RS turbo, but if its solid, looks like an rs turbo, sounds like 1, and goes like 1, in my eyes its a god damn rs turbo
just so you know, comments like these on another site once made me almost give up on my project due to the riducule and belittleing. but after a while i realised you dnt need the permission and blessing of a narrow minded few to build a car the way u want it
i luv this car, been built just like mine, i wil b putting a resto thread up soon as im well into rebuilding mine yet again. love the metering head, my local ford garage said there were no rebuild parts available, so im guessing they were fobbing me off, will have to sourse the part numbers
well done mate, keep up the good work, have to get a rs replica stand at 1 of the shows, see if anyone wud eva notice the difference

sideways seems to have a habit of dropping comments like that!
Personally I think at 16 he needs to hold back on comments until he has experienced how hard/expensive it is to find a solid mint RS on a budget, or how scary it would be to pick up a Ł2 - 2.5K half decent one and then rip it apart not knowing if you are going to be able to pull of a resto.
If it is someones first go at a resto project, then to me it make sense to use a solid 1.3 shell that you have been tootling around in as a new driver, and picking up a rotten RS to use as a donor car to create something special. If it goes tits up then it hasn't cost a bomb and you haven't wrecked a roadworth RS, while if it turn out right, you've got the car you wanted.
I think it is only wrong of people to try and sell an RS look a like as a genuine RS in a misleading manner (some do). if a car looks the nuts I don't care if you call it an RS or a Popular plus, to me it's just a smart looking motor and i do think people have a lot of repsect for peeps who turn their little 1.3 shitter into a show car.
Car looks good mate, love that colour and the RS.

Also refurbed the fuel pipes that go on te metering unit, cleaned the pipework up and painted the ends, fitted them to the unit and it finishes it off nicely

Right time for another update then!
Engine and box are now out, gearbox is off to be rebuilt next week, and hopefully sorted out a better sump for the engine. Engine needs detailing while its out as well
have got pretty much everything stripped out of the engine bay ready for paint, just needs a couple of clips taking out and and the speedo cable. Wiring will be masked up, and strut tops taken off when its ready to be painted
Have also degreased most of the engine bay, and im shocked at how well the paints come up! nearly decided not to paint it, and its so nice to own a minter, non of that inner wing, battery tray rust shite
if i pull my finger out 2moro, may well be able to get it painted
also trial fitted my intercooler, so that if any trimming was necessary, i could do it before it was all painted
organic clutch kit has turned up so thats another part waiting to go back in, and finally, does anyone know if these clips are still available from Ford? need quite a few of them!
more updates soon hopefully!

will be going bufty underneath next winter mate
Gotta decide this morning if im going to spray the engine bay
It came up really well yesterday, and thats before ive even tried to polish it. Seems a shame to cover it all up as it looks mint for 16 years old, and sort of keeps it 'originality' if i dont spray it.
Will go out and have a polish, then decide
