I can't make my mind up on the silver. It looks great from the back but from the side it matches the colour of the wheels too closely. I'm, thinking that some Ti coloured wheels would set it off perfectly.
Please, please, PLEASE. DO NOT do the bonnet raiser thing. Dont relegate all your hard work to that of looking like a 17yr old Nova driver.

time for a long overdue update!
Hey guys, has been a long time, shortly after my last reply, i lost my internet connection and only got it back last week! Over 4 months!
Anyway, think its about due an update
Now i havnt been able to transfer all my pics over from my old pc yet, so these are for the mean time
The car is all built now, registered with the dvla as a turbo, and the tax and insurance have been all sorted out
At first with the car on the road i felt that the performance was pathetic and thought i had wasted my time. But while giving it a full service, i noticed a blocked hose coming off the metering unit. Turned out the Amal valve was missing!!! One of the previous owners of the donor car must have been a right bodging git, not to mention a cheapskate
So with a new amal valve from Ford, we had a RST performing to its full capability, and an owner with a big smile on his face
Anyway, initial list of jobs to do were:
Sort out sloppy gearchange
Sort out front suspension as insides of original tyres got scrubbed very quickly due to the bad camber and bouncy standard 1300 dampers
replace front windscreen as its scratched
replace webbing in passenger seat as its split in half and have to run with an xr3i passenger seat at the mo
So, getting on with this list....
Ordered some MEF Adjustable TCA's today so they should be here soon, and these arrived today...
Nice new set of adjustable Koni's should sort out the bouncyness and go well with the Spax springs
This also turned up today and had to fit it straight away!, Difference was unbelievable!!
proper sexy bit of kit
got a better windscreen in the shed, so that'll be going in at the weekend, and found some new webbing on ebay, so will get some of that ordered.
So there we go, just need to get my new tyres put on the front superleggras, and then get the voodoo's refurbed in the meantime as they look so much better.
So thats this months list, then after that its bailey breather, GRS intercooler, -31 actuator and get the old girl chipped
Some more updates soon
Oh and if anyone wants to make me an offer on a MINT set of superleggras with 3 very good and one new tyre, then send me a pm
cheers
Danny

top job
how do you get an old shell and get the logbook changed to say rs turbo when it has a different vin, engine number etc.
would be tempted to do this with mine, as have always wanted a silver rst and would mine would be a perfect donor car.
cheers

havnt got them fitted yet buddy, just started some time off, got to collect loads of clips ad bolts 2moro from ford/bolt specialist, then i can start buftying underneath, so will fit tca's at this time. RS has already gone im afraid mate, roof had a big kink in, inner wings, front panel were all fooked, and dont get me started on how rotten the floor to inner sill join was. Realy was at the end of its life. Im currently also restoring my mk2 Escort, thats rotten, so believe me i know when a cars worth saving or not, but i know what you mean, theres alot of RST's being broken when they really shouldnt be!

Now then guys, have a few threads all over the place, so from now on going to have this as my only thread about my car.
Suspension is now all on and set up, along with two new front tyres so im back to a full set of Superleggra's
Pics of how the old girl now looks...
Also found a pic or 2 of what the old girl looked like when i first bought her just over a year ago..
Now, currently the cars of the road till the end of the month with a leaking sump gasket, so while she is off the road and now the clocks have gone forward meaning summers on its way, its time to spend some nights doing some little bits that will make a difference.
First job which ive just come in from doing is trimming the B-pillar covers. My Bonus didnt have these as original, just painted metal, so i robbed them out of my donor RS before it went away to be crushed. Trouble is is that they are a different colour to my headlining, so decided to trim them in 86 spec fabric(think twins did this before having his flocked? ) only took an hour tops, listening to Dave Pearce on the radio
Looking forward to fitting them 2moro
Enjoy
The finished result...
well happy with them
cheers
Danny

Well, its time for the old girl to come off the road after only 3 1/2 months as being a turbo.Fed up of the look of it under the bonnet and all the little leaks, so its time to strip it all back again and go bufty for the show season. Car also eeds a new gearbox and uprated clutch inreadiness for some proper power
So, enjoy the rebuild
What im improving on...
First item for the bufty treatment, manky and leaking metering unit.
some of the new bits from Ford...
and the finished item just needing the two little fuel lines
Really happy with the outcome of it, worth the nights in the shed scraping away all the crap and prepping
The next item for the treatment( Brackets being put in the "to go to powedercoaters" box)
Just like to say a MASSIVE thanks to Andy YWK for all of his help with part numbers and tips so far, hes a top guy
another update soon
cheers
